Introducing: Talya

Generally: Konnichiwa. Hola. Bonjour. Guten Tag. Mi llamo Talya Calder. I’m basically writing on this blog because, well, Natalys asked me to… and because I am such an amazingly kind person, I just couldn’t turn her down. Anyway, I’m just going to write a little bit about me and then we shall be onto things that matter. Obviously, I enjoy foreign languages — English is my first language but I hope to become fluent in at least 3 more. I currently live in San Diego, and I’m attending a nearby college. I love to dance, sing, and listen to my friends explain various sports to me.

Sports: Truth be told (and Crane will agree with this), I am really not a huge sports person. I don’t follow any particular sport and I generally don’t understand people’s obsession with watching guys (or girls) play with balls and sticks and get paid for it. Of course, that’s only my personal opinion and there is no obligation for anyone to agree with me… that said, Crane is beginning to explain baseball and football to me, so hopefully I will be able to help her with posts soon. In the mean time, I mostly just help her by finding cute photos of her favorite athletes!

Music: This is where I’m more in my zone. Since it would take far too much time to write down all the music I listen to I’ll just do a brief overview….

Long story short, I’ll listen to almost anything — I like to try all sorts of new music and for the most part I am able to find qualities I like about all different genres. If I owned all the songs I liked, I might not be able to put it all on an iPod because there might not be one with enough memory. I play piano, I sing, and I’m learning the guitar. (I just began writing my own songs.) As mentioned above, I also love to dance; music is a really big part of my life.

Obsessions: I wouldn’t really say I have any obsessions because really, I’m far too easily distracted and usually much too busy to focus on one thing long enough for it to be called an obsession. The closest I come to obsession is with music and maybe texting — although I know that sounds completely shallow, my friends live all over the country (and in some cases, all over the world!), so we have to communicate mostly by texts and email.

In each of my blog posts, I will… somehow try to incorporate words in another language or talk about hot guys (usually athletes, for Crane’s sake).

Next time I post, I will…. No idea! I don’t plan in advance for such things.

...about the accuracy of the information presented here. For example, Crane may write something like "Ollie Perez, ERA 2.44", when his ERA is actually 4.22. Because Crane thinks he's just oh so cute and sweet, and she really wishes he weren't on the Muts. Er, Mets.
